IBS-DBRBT (Dual-Battery-Relay)

IBS-DBRBT (family name includes IBS-DBR200BT and IBS-DBR230BT) is an next generation of the long-manufactured IBS-DBR, i.e., double battery relays. A new feature is the Bluetooth monitoring and control through the "IBS smart" APP, which is also used for monitoring and controlling the IBS lithium batteries and future IBS-DBMxxBT.

While the engine is running the IBS-DBRBT links both batteries for parallel charging and disconnects the batteries when the engine is stopped. The DBRBT family is for cars with classic charge (alternator charges when engine is running, also suitable for cars with start/stop function). For cars with “Smart Alternators” choose our IBS-DBM20A/S Dual Battery Manager. The installed Link button allows to perform an Emergency Link Start with the help of the Aux Battery (Link activation also possible through the “IBS smart” APP). One of the two batteries must show for a successful Link 8.5V (200A version) or 9.3V (230A version), the other battery must show >4V

To handle high continuous currents of 200A or newly 230A in this compact design, the DBR relays are built with DualBond technology. The dual supply function (from MAIN and AUX) and the Relay Booster Modul function (RBM) are still included as in the previous model. The new IBS-DBR230BT now features M8 terminals. By using a cable lug with a hole for M8, very high currents can be conducted thanks to reduced contact resistance, which is particularly suitable for starting big engines with auxiliary battery support.

Two new models are available:

  • IBS-DBR200BT (200A continuous current, M6 terminals, Bluetooth)
  • IBS-DBR230BT (230A continuous current, M8 terminals, Bluetooth)

The DBRBT can be controlled traditionally via the link button (without an installed APP) to activate the 30-minute link (single press of the link button) for emergency start and winch operation.

If the 'IBS smart' app for Android or iOS (Apple) is installed on a mobile device, various functions become available:

  • 30 min link (known)
  • 120 min link (new)
  • Delink
  • Display voltage of starter battery [V]
  • Display voltage of auxiliary battery [V]
  • Display relay status, contact open or closed with remaining timer time
  • Main battery type selectable between lead and lithium battery
  • Auxiliary battery type selectable between lead and lithium battery
  • Temperature in the relay

When choosing a lithium battery, the link and delink values are also adjusted to ensure correct functionality between the possibly different batteries.

If the 'IBS smart' APP is installed on a tablet (Android or iOS), in-app display is possible, with navigation running in the background and the 'IBS smart' display in a reduced APP version in the foreground, allowing real-time measurement values to be visible at any time.

The following battery combinations are possible:

  • Main battery: Lead, Auxiliary battery: Lead
  • Main battery: Lead, Auxiliary battery: Lithium
  • Main battery: Lithium, Auxiliary battery: Lithium

Attention: When installing lithium starter batteries in the engine compartment, the permissible temperature of a maximum of 70°C (as stated by the battery manufacturer) may be exceeded, and temperatures up to 100°C may occur, which can lead to instability of lithium batteries.

The IBS-DBR relay is not intended to switch loads; for this purpose, use the IBS relays without DBR function
