The Defender TD4 and TD5 offer an optimal installation location for an IBS dual battery kit in the driver's seat console. The charging capacity of the Defender alternator, with a classic charging curve and no smart function, is:
Defender TD5: 120A
Defender TD4: 150A
The "old Defender" does not require a DC/DC charging module such as our IBS-DBM20A/S; the classic IBS-DBS with optional RBM+ is the optimal configuration for this model.
The "new Defender," however, requires an IBS-DBM20A/S.
We offer two different battery installation kits for the "old Defender":
The stainless steel mounting plates are screwed into the seat console with M6 screws. The four to six M6 threaded rods are screwable to ensure easy battery installation.
The rear plate must maintain a distance of 55mm from the rear wall to ensure all threaded rods and their M6 nuts are accessible. The IBS technology (relay and RBM+) is ideally mounted on the front wall of the seat console.
The IBS monitor is located to the right of the right knee, thus preventing interference while driving and preventing gear shifting.
The following functions are available with the IBS-DBS installed:
