The group travelled by ferry from Genoa to Tunis on February 13, 2026, and returned on February 24.
The 2026 Sahara Desert Tour, themed "Speed and Power," was conducted in cooperation with Toyota Autotempel Thun.
The goal of the trip was to test the new Hilux 2025 and Land Cruiser Prado 2025 vehicles.
The convoy consisted of six vehicles:
Hilux Revo 2025
Land Cruiser 95
Land Cruiser 100
Land Cruiser 150 (IBS/TJM Switzerland vehicle)
Land Cruiser 250
Tacoma
All vehicles were equipped with TJM suspension (except for the Tacoma) and extensive IBS and TJM equipment.
The journey led from Tunis via Douz to Hammamet, Kaiouran, Kazar Ghilane, Ain Oudette, Timbaine, Ksar Ghilane, Tatouine, Hammamet, and back to Tunis.
Due to strong winds over the past three months, the sand was like powder, making dune driving, which is usually easy, extremely challenging.
All vehicles were well-equipped and completed the demanding journey without any problems. The only drawback was the original plastic front bumper of the Land Cruiser 250, which was prone to damage when driving on dunes. Larger tires, 285s or wider, would significantly mitigate this issue. The crawl control systems on the Tacoma and Land Cruiser 250 were used regularly to free the vehicles in many cases without outside assistance.
During the five days in the desert, approximately 2,000 sand dunes were crossed.
The motto of this tour was "Speed and Power."
